7/20/2020 Need Your Help with Resting My Brain July Update

It’s been  about 11 weeks since, I had a stroke. So, I am having a crazy unpredictable time within the greater unpredictable world of Covid. After 7 days in the hospital, I was sent home and told to rest my brain. You get this monthly Smart Bulletin because you a BOH Insider, have been in one of my courses or bought my books. The idea of resting my brain is a foreign concept.

Patti B’s words for resting my brain were that I need to pretend my house is a giant motorhome. For 17 years, my husband and I traveled all 50 states and 5 provinces in Canada in our motorhome (no we didn’t drive to Hawaii or Alaska). We took the entire month of August off-yes 17 years of a month off! What Patti B was saying to me was I needed to kick back into my relaxed reading a bunch of books mode.

July Books, Movies and Shows Update

My favorite book this month was suggested by a couple RDH friends The Infinite Game by Simon Senek. Th words of this book resonated with my work at BOH and the movement we are building. We are looking for the long infinite game. Here is the way Mr. Senek offers this framework for leading with an infinite mindset. On one hand, none of us can resist the fleeting thrills of a promotion earned or a tournament won, yet these rewards fade quickly. In pursuit of a Just Cause, we will commit to a vision of a future world so appealing that we will build it week after week, month after month, year after year. Although we do not know the exact form this world will take, working toward it gives our work and our life meaning.

The BOH infinite game played out while I was hospitalized. The DentalCodeology Consortium has been working more than 4 years to appeal to ADA to get a voting hygiene member on the CDT Codes Maintenance Committee. We finally had a call scheduled with ADHA, ADA and DCC. I was not able to attend yet DCC Leaders Noel Paschke, Kathy Forbes and Patti Beeson were able to join ADHA President Matt Crespin and CEO Anne Battrell for that meeting! BOH is infinite in our pursuit of a cause!

Another book this month was the 2nd in a series by Catherine Bybee. Those of you that have read other series by this author recognize her name. This is Creek Canyon series. Book 2 was published 6/14/2020. Not deep literature but great fun.

I have a sample of a new Gabriel Allon Series by Daniel Silva called The Kill Artist. I will keep you posted on it.

Thanks Insiders! I heard from several of you on your favorite recommendations and I truly appreciate those suggestions-keep them coming. My personal email is pdigangi@comcast.net We plan to make this a regular feature in this news bulletin.

Favorite Binges

I finished the 214 episodes of Heartland and great news, I found Season 12 & 13 on Amazon Prime.

I am jealous of my Montana and western state friends with watching both Heartland and another favorite Yellowstone Season 3 -not for the faint of heart. This brings the challenge of binging, we watched Seasons 1-2 on a binge and now for Season 3 have to wait week to week. Boo!

This is not a book club or other organized responsibility. I know many of you are challenged by the new reality of clinical and like me, you need to rest your brain. Let’s do this together.……whew time for a rest.
